About Montana’s Museum at the Montana Historical Society

Admission: MHS members & their families FREE. $5 per adult, $1 per student, $12 two-day family pass, and includes admission to the Original Governor’s Mansion.

We’re family friendly and a delightful way to learn about 11,000 years of Montana’s past. The Mackay Gallery of Charles M. Russell Art displays some of the finest art in the world, immersing visitors in the romance of the American West. The Montana Homeland exhibit takes a trip through time, beginning with the earliest history of Native peoples to the trappers, traders, miners, ranchers, homesteaders, and others who came to make Montana home. The Last Chance Tour Train departs from just outside the Montana Historical Society’s doors, offering an open-air trip through Helena’s delightful historic districts during the summer season.
